SDK or devkit stands for software development kit. An SDK is a set of software development tools that allow the creation of applications for a specific software package, such as a hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or similar platform. SDKs are critical to developing a platform-specific application. For example, the development of an Android application on the Java platform requires a Java Development Kit application, for iOS applications on the iOS SDK, and for Windows on the NET Framework SDK.

What is SDK or devkit?

In operating systems, SDK software development packages are not installed by default, and web developers must download and use these packages. There are also SDKs that are built into apps to provide analytics for activity-related information. Prominent examples include Google, InMobi and Facebook.
